Using an effective client consultation process means that you will only be working with ideal clients as you have already ‘screened’ them before commencing working with them.
There are some basic questions you can ask to make sure you get vital information from potential clients, as well as telling them important information about your business.
Contact information
You need telephone numbers and an email address before your scheduled consultation so that you can contact them if they don’t call.
About their business
What industry do they work in? What products/services do they provide? What types of clients do they work with?
What are their goals/vision?
What are their goals for the next five years? This is a good question as you can tell them how you could help them to achieve their goals.
What are they struggling to complete in their business?
This gives you an idea of where you can provide support initially until you get to know their business more and provide more proactive services.
What is a typical day for them?
This will reveal some details about their personality and work style, which should tell you whether you want to work with them or not.
Have they worked with a virtual assistant before?
This is an important question as, if the answer is yes, you can ask additional questions to see whether the relationship worked or not, what their expectations are etc.
What information you want potential clients to know
Tell them your working hours, how you work with clients and any other important information they need to know.
This is a great starting point for your client consultation process and can be developed further over time.
