You need to remember that your website is not about you, but is in fact all about your visitor.
You need to make sure the design and text will appeal to your target market and always write with your visitor in mind. Once you have your copy, look through it to see how many times you say ‘I’ and turn it around to ‘you’ instead.
For a Virtual Assistant business, I recommend the following pages as a bare minimum:
Home
This is normally the first page that visitors to your website will see so make sure that you write it with your target market in mind. Identify their common problems and show how you understand their industry and can offer solutions to their problems.
About Us
This is where you can showcase your expertise and what makes you different.
Services
You need to tell people about the services you can offer but don’t have a list detailing everything that you could possibly do. Break your services into sections and then give examples of how you can help.
Frequently Asked Questions
Part of creating a good website is making it easier for visitors to be able to navigate and make their decision. By having a frequently asked questions section, you are helping your visitor to reach their decision as all their questions can get answered.
Links
Again this is something that you need to create with your target market in mind. Identify useful links that would be beneficial to them.
Contact Us
Make sure that you include all of your contact details and if you are a limited company, you need to include your company registration number and registered office address as well.
Some optional pages to think about include:
News
This is where you can highlight your personal and business achievements. It also gives you an incentive to strive for new things so that you have something to include on your news page!
Products
If you develop any products or sign up to any affiliate programmes, this is where you could showcase them for your visitors to be able to purchase them and earn additional income for your business.
Staff Profiles
Create a profile for all staff, even if it is only you to begin with. By having a profile, your visitor can start to build a relationship with you making it feel like they already know you.
